Donna would be the first to admit that being a single mum is hard. And being a single mum to a super genius, half Time Lord is even harder. Sure, she has the support of her mum and her grandad, and the Doctor pops in from time to time and she loves Molly to bits, but sometimes she can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed, a bit trapped and very lonely.

She doesn't regret having Molly for a single second, of course she doesn't. But sometimes she feels like she can't breathe. Tonight is one of those nights. So, once Molly is tucked up safe and sound and left under the watch of Sylvia; Donna heads out to sit up the hill and gaze at the stars.

She misses her old life; in the TARDIS, with the Doctor. But she makes do. What else can she do?

She can jump; when the TARDIS pulls up, with that familiar left-the-break-on noise. Maybe she'll make some form of noise. Maybe she'll pretend Molly isn't awake and listening.

And jump she does. That was the last noise she expected to hear; although it's not an unwelcome noise by any means. She remains seated in her spot until the TARDIS is fully materialised before pushing herself to her feet.

Well... it'd be rude not to say hi, right?

Very rude; Molly might never forgive her. It would better to go forward.

She would hate for Molly to hate her. Obviously she needs to see the Doctor for that reason alone. And not because she's missed him in any way..

Donna waits a full thirty seconds before knocking on the door - at least that way if he doesn't want to see her he can make a quick getaway.

What get away? The TARDIS isn't exactly working right now; not taking off at the very least.

She takes that as her cue to unlock the door. What? He shouldn't let ex-companions keep hold of their keys if he doesn't want them popping in from time to time.

"Doctor?" She peeks her head around the door.

"Donna." Surprised sound. He might be looking about for Molly - automatic reflex; she's as bad as Donna for catching the Doctor at things...

At least Molly is tucked up safely in bed. At least Donna hopes she's tucked up safely in bed...

"Social call, alien invasion or took a wrong turn?"

"I have to choose now?" he demanded, slipping back a little. Was Molly ever really asleep though? Ever? Truly? DID SHE SLEEP>

Of course she sleeps! She's half Donna. Sleep is fabulous! And Donna has seen her sleeping so she knows she sleeps sometimes. Course, she was getting very good at sneaking about. Not good.

"Preferably, yes."

Yes, but Donna was half Doctor; it was hard to tell how much sleep any of them really needed, some days... "...Can't I say all?"

"If you must. Kind of cheating though." She frowns, remaining in the doorway. She's pretty sure things didn't used to be so awkward before.

"So... How are you?"

"This is why I never planned on telling you about her. There's no easy solution." Donna sighs. She wants to be with him more than anything in the world.

She laughs. "Top of the stairs, second on the left. The door that says 'Molly's Room' in big letters..."
