Of Sons, Sea and Sand ♦ for [livejournal.com profile] justneededtea

Beach! Beachbeachbeachbeach! Yay! Best medicine ever. Sun, sand and sea. Perfect. Donna had spent ages getting ready. How hard was it to pick a swimsuit? Apparently, very hard. It had taken ages to find the perfect fit, but she had eventually settled on a black swimsuit - not wearing blue, not with the two skinny boys being all bluewars! Right, black swimsuit, hot pink sarong and matching flipflops, and of course sunhat and oversized sunglasses. She'd also put on some superstrength suncream.

She had then busied her getting Percy and Adi ready. She fed them and ensured Percy was flly charged. She had smothered Adi in suncream and found sunhats for the pair of them. And of course, she found buckets and spades.

She had made a picnic for everyone and packed beachtowels and drinks and extra suncream. No one could say she was unprepared. "Doctor! Adam! Come on! Hurry up!!!"

The Doctor was quite good at it but then so was Adam, it was genetic. Though all it really did was spark a contest that got oddly competitive. By the end, there were sandcastles everywhere. Literally everywhere.

And the Doctor was beaming proudly at Donna while Adam distracted himself by assisting Percy to help build a few more parts. Tilting his head back, he grinned at Donna.

"Like the castle?"

"You know, this is definitely all very odd," the Doctor mused tiredly. After all, they where just sort of sitting around in their little domestic unit. Mommy and daddy watching their children.

Ye, he was definitely in domestic hell.

"We haven't fled for our live yet. Seems a bit anti-climatic, we usually get some excuse to do so," the Doctor complained with a small frown. Alright, it was a dumb thing to worry about but he did worry about it. No danger usually meant boring or something worse was coming.

"Well, if we wait any longer, the tide will come in and sweep us off," Adam offered lamely.

The Doctor just pouted. "Its the sea. The bloody boring sea, you don't have to patronize me. I'm just a bit disappointed nothing tried to kill us. Or eat us. Or crush our bodies."

"Lovely," Adam remarked, pulling a face of dismay at the idea. "I like it this way. Percy does too. And Adi."

"Alright, deal," Grinning, the Doctor did relax, letting them all play and fiddle about while he stared at the sky and mentally did calculations he needed for the TARDIS. He didn't have much else to do.

"I'm bored," the doctor chimed out an hour later, looking as bored as he was claiming to be. Adam just looked over his shoulder and pulled a face. Was he ever not bored?
